Diagnostics
Allergic rhinitis, particularly seasonal allergic rhinitis are diseases which can be diagnosed simply, mostly based on the symptoms and the anamnesis.
In Hungary, besides anamnesis, the skin prick test is recommended in the diagnosis of allergy. In vitro tests (determination of the specific IgE level from the serum) cost on average twice as much as skin Prick tests, however the Prick test is more sensitive and specific. Yet in many cases it occurs that both test types give positive results in the early phase of the disease, and real results only appear later.
